Stills

Nick Knight.

Amazing.

The last image is from Bjork's clip for Pagan Poetry(one of my favourites) which Nick Knight directed, and is one of the most beautiful film clips for a song that I have ever seen. In it, Bjork wears the most beautiful McQueen dress that is suspended by a skin coloured mesh neck brace, and adorned with strings of diamonds and pearls. Bjork's arms and body are also decorated with strings of pearls that have been sewn into her skin, and the last shot of the clip shows a corset-style piercing arrangement laced up with a string of diamonds and pearls. Heaven.

What I love about Nick Knight is the precision. Everything is so perfect that it hurts. In his Lily's video, Lily is the most perfect being, almost unhuman. That is the feeling with most of his work, almost a Stelarc, technologically advanced way of creation, without being sterile and devoid of emotion.

Knight's photography is amazing, how he captures movement is absoloutely spectacular, and in his films he does this even better, with the help of many hairdryers and treadmills! His films are so perfect, that they are almost animated, and the ones that are animated, such as Sweet DV, are a look into the future of fashion.
His film for Maison Martin Margiela is Barbarella-esque, with the famous hair cape swishing around, and lots of nudity, and even then it is still so precise and futuristic.
Anyway, I must go and perve on his YSL 24 collection films...

An Admirable Miscreant

I'm having another craving for Barry Lyndon. Despite sending some viewers to sleep, it is one of my absolute favourite films. Everything about it is so beautiful. I think Elyse would agree with me on that point. This is the first movie to make me appreciate the effects of lighting and camera direction. The scenery, costumes, music! and story are sublime ( that is the only word to use). Or perhaps melancholic beauty? An 18th century story, Keira Knightley free.

Chloé Spring/Summer 2010

I love the latest Chloé designs for 2010. This is exactly how I want to dress for summer. Practical, comfortable, simple and boyish without being looked at strangely.

Lady Dior

Marion Cotillard is amazing!! I know this has been out for a while but it needs to be posted. I can't wait for Lady Rouge. Watch the whole film at http://www.ladydior.com/thefilm/

Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters

I have to say that I don't normally get excited about hats because they look horrible on me. The other day we were discussing how boring spring racing hats and fascinators were. I've discovered Maison Michel of Paris. Alone the photo shoot is amazing (done by Karl Lagerfeld). It really makes me want to wear hats and headpieces again.

P.S. My favourite is the mini top hat on Lou Doillon. There is also a white version with a veil attached. Which makes me want to wear hats and get married. Perhaps it will be a summer of living dangerously. Can you order male grooms from Russia?

P.P.S I also want a straw boater hat for summer (just like Buster Keaton) ha ha

John William Waterhouse

John William Waterhouse, Hylas and the Nymphs, 1896

This year I developed an obsession with Pre-Raphaelite art. I just thought I'd post one of my favourite paintings by John William Waterhouse. It's so beautiful, I just want it on my bedroom wall. I'd really love to know how you can get photos or art works blown up and used as wallpaper in your house. New business idea if I fail uni?    [Lauren]

Foot Love

These Finsk ponyskin and Jeffrey Campbell leather shoes are on my 'To Do' list, as are the following McQueens.

Hmmm..... I think McQueen read my deepest desires and made them true.

Peek-a-boo

I saved this La Perla body delicacy to my phone a while back and I have been thinking about it a lot lately so I decided to make a post about it.
I only recently(looking for this photo now) saw it on a live model and the panties aren't actually as exciting as they look because of the lack of detail at the front, and I also hate g-bangers.
However, I am drawn to these like a bogan to v8s, and I think I will have to whip up a pair, what, with all my bra-making skills and all.

In the meantime, take a look at these beautiful Marlies Dekkers panties...

P.S. The styling on these shoots is really well done... I would loooooooooooove to have been there!

Rat-atat-tat

This is Janiqua's bag.
Janiqua's bag is amazing.
Janiqua's bag has a mind of it's own.

Be Frank, or be Square

This is my beautiful friend Lara Ra Ra in some amazing photos by Natasha Wolfe at She Is Frank.
The second photo is actually one of Lara's designs(which is award-winning) and doesn't it just look fabulous!
I also made a beautiful (not fresh) flower headpiece similar to the one in the first photo and I will post it soon.

On the Fingers

These rings caught my fancy today, although the bling* on the turquoise snakes is a little too much. I need to buy some new rings ASAP. My el cheapo rings of last summer have either gone walkabout or have gone to heaven.
Also, post 'Tales of the Unexpected', I totally thought Burton did a better job on the Harper's shoot- maybe because it was more about the fashion??

*'Bling' made me laugh when the spell checker said it wasn't a real word. HA!

Tales of the Unexpected

I am oh so jealous of Elyse who stole her Vogue UK December 2008 from the gym. This is possibly the coolest photo shoot I have ever seen. You could say that it really made me appreciate fashion photography. Oh how the celebrity brand sells. But Tim Burton, Helena Bonham Carter AND Karen Elson. So delicious.  [Lauren]
